Millennium 3

Introduction

Millennium 3 is a space exploration/trading/combat simulation set in the 31st Century. If you've played the 1984 classic Elite or its 1993 sequel Frontier, you'll be familiar with the concept, which Millennium 3 takes to new levels of persistence, detail and immersion.

Screenshots

Screenshots aren't particularly meaningful at this stage, but people seem to enjoy them, so here are a few recent ones :)

FAQ

When will it be released?

Short answer: When it's done. If that sounds a bit too Duke Nukem Forever for you, read the long answer.

Long answer: When I have all the "essential" features in place, I'll release the game. The plan then is to continue updating it and adding new features - as long as people keep buying it!

What platforms will it be available on?

Windows and Linux. A Mac version is a distinct possibility if there is sufficient demand.

Can I help with programming/art/music?

Right now, no. I don't have any compensation to offer, and I don't have time to program and manage a team.

If you have a question that isn't answered here, send me an email.

Millennium 3 is looking pretty good. Congrats on the engine work. Please feel free to stop by my website http://www.spacesimcentral.com and post a little something on your game and the direction you are going to take. I have added a link to your site to my website so hopefully you will start to see a few more visitors. And you won't end development on this nice looking project.

Hope this arrives at some point. We need a modern game like this given I do not think Elite IV will ever arrive!

Wow, Paul, I've been checking back here off and on for what seems like years now, and I'm totally jazzed by the new screenshots you've put up! They look FANTASTIC - even if they're not representative of the game at all. Best of luck to you and here's to a speedy development process!

Oh man. Elite and Frontier both excellent games. Microsoft's Freelancer tocuhed on what can be done. But we want more space and more ports and more ships and more of everything. And dont forget we want to be able to land on plants (manually) and muck it it if we crash so we can get out of our ships and wander around. 3 games in one. Come on.. lets get the ball rolling eh?

Please repost the last released alpha 4.3 (<em>millenn_a43.exe</em>) from circa 2000. Thanks!

Meh
This is totaly deader than dead what a waste of time.

Posted by Bonehead at October 31, 2005, 1:56pm. Category: programming.

That's what you think ;-)

Posted by pwr (site) at August 2, 2005, 9:56am. Category: programming.

It is all bullshit... both millennium3 and entropy are fakes or vaporware,as you like, and will never be released so...rest in peace.

Posted by Vaffanculo at August 2, 2005, 2:38am. Category: programming.

Everything about this game seems awesome - except the "in sporadic development since 1998" bit! I am a massive fan of the original, I played PC elite to death 15 years ago, and I'm playing elite plus now. I, like thousands of others, yearn for a new elite.
Now please forgive me if I'm being ignorant, but isnt 7 years a long time for a game to be in development? I mean, are you going to be re-writing this game for eternity, or do you have even the roughest idea of when you will be finished?
If a game with these graphics and the gameplay to match elite were to come onto the market tomorrow, I'd be parted from my hard-earned cash faster than Hugh Grant in a brothel...

Please excuse tomer for his ignorance and idiocy; he has just been recently banded from habnet for this kind of behaviour most agree he was a bit of a fanatic giving entropy a bad name.
We apologise.

Anyway, quit whatever you are doing it’s not important. Then you can spend all your time on M3, happy programming :)

Posted by wolf (site) at January 20, 2005, 6:20pm. Category: programming.

mm.. u still alive, man?

Posted by anonymous at December 30, 2004, 8:02am. Category: programming.

The project is dead, as i might guess.
Through i am sure that lots of pepole who used to come hear (for project updates) have turned over Entropy (and i am one of them) through i see lots of improvments in Entropy then in Millenium 3.

Posted by Captain Tomer at November 21, 2004, 8:20pm. Category: programming.

If you're busy to complete it, why dont give out your source code so it can finally be completed

Posted by anonymous at October 27, 2004, 10:00am. Category: programming.

Could you at least post an alpha version on this site again? I thought that Alpha 4.3 was quite decent. Even an old version is better than none to try out. Thanks!

Posted by Mark B. at October 18, 2004, 6:34pm. Category: programming.

this looks amazing, it's unfortunate the last screens made available were from 2001, I hope this is no indication of lost interest, you are sitting on a goldmine and is worth finishing what you have already begun.. please!

I'm a big fan of these types of games (including Noctis!), but the terrain engine in those screenshots is incredible, I can't wait to try this out. Keep up the good work!

Long time no news...the Millennium 3 project is still on the way? I downloaded an old demo version (it wasn't easy to find it) and graphics are very good...but the newer screenshot look even much better! So what's going on with it? Will it ever come out with a new demo version -at least- ?

Posted by Benny C at March 28, 2004, 4:00am. Category: programming.

I think it's time someone got a demo out of this.

No shit mate, this could set up money wise to do whatever you want... I know i'd pay £30 for anything near this quality!

WE NEED MORE FRONTIER STYLE GAMES!!

Posted by Marc at March 11, 2004, 2:10am. Category: programming.

Great screenshots but i think its time to a demo or the complete game.something becouse i can see a great game and its depresive if i cant play it.

Dude, millennium 3 looks incredible!!!, ive been keeping an eye on your site for ages now, do you have any more news on its progress?

Posted by Alistaire Parker at March 2, 2004, 6:34pm. Category: programming.

I looked at the screenshots and all I can really say is.. WOW!!!!!!! This looks so awesome! I can't wait for the next demo, good luck with the project! Elite and Frontier are two of the greatest games ever, and this certainly looks capable of living up to those standards. Excellent stuff!

Posted by Scott (site) at March 2, 2004, 3:27pm. Category: programming.

Fantstic work on the terrain, cn hardly wait for more updates.

Posted by Jono at March 2, 2004, 2:26pm. Category: programming.

This is really awesome! I hope there will be a playable demo in the near future. =) Still playing Frontier - Elite 2 on an old dedicated elite-computer!

Posted by Samuel Johansson (site) at February 27, 2004, 10:35pm. Category: programming.

Mate,

This is fantastic stuff. You really should get some demos out there to show people what you have done.... Or videos..... Or better still articles, If you have achieved all this then tell people how you did it.

I work in the Games industry, currently for Sony, and Im telling ya.... this stuff is really good.

I can feel the work thats gone into it...... well done.!!!

Rob.
